Music to spark a better life for older adults and preschoolers

Inspiration

“In learning to know other things, and other minds, we become more intimately acquainted with ourselves, and are to ourselves better worth knowing.” – Philip Gilbert Hamilton

What inspires you?  What energizes your creativity?

Living a distance from an urban area has encouraged me to find inspiration in a variety of places.  I enjoy reading blogs and articles by my music therapy colleagues.  Books purchased, borrowed, or from the library provide an array of information.  Keeping the genres changing keeps me acquainted with many ideas.  Attending concerts in town or when traveling fills my soul as do art galleries.  Taking time to enjoy the beauties around me – sunrise, sunset, blooming flowers, children playing…

One of my inspirational sources is podcasts.  There is so much to take in of high quality these days.  One of my favorites is Ted Talks.  (http://www.ted.com/) If you haven’t taken a look, it might be worth your time.  Of the recent posts, there are a couple of notable interests.  For those workings with children check out Kiran Bir Sethi.  For those with an interest in jazz see Herbie Hancock.

“The happiest life is that which constantly exercises and educates what is best in us.” – Hamerton
