Music to spark a better life for older adults and preschoolers

As promised last week, here is a review of another Eldersong Publication, Travel Unlimited. At the current sales price of $14.95, this is a must have if you work with older adults.  Written by Virginia Kelley and Katherine Groff-Smith, this book has 37 travel themed ideas – most focused on sites.  Each chapter has 4 to 13 activities, suggested discussion questions, and word lists.  This book also has several extras at the end of the book.

While included materials are once again aimed towards an older population, I have used them repeatedly in intergenerational settings as well as with groups of children. To use this book to its optimal best, preplanning is needed.  With a little bit of work, many chapters are easily expanded to a month’s worth of programs. I often was able to add a lot of music to each chapter – something that is missing in many chapters.

Be watching for future “In Review” blogs. Materials for Preschoolers will be the next to be reviewed.
